Small Acts Create Big Impacts
What We Do
At the Cater Plus Foundation, we believe that small acts can create big impacts. Whether it’s supporting people through tough times, strengthening communities, or protecting our planet, we’re here to make a difference where it’s needed
Our giving is focused on four key areas:
-
Supporting People
Empowering individuals to reach their potential through tailored support and belief in their unique abilities.
-
Strengthening Communities
Partnering with local initiatives across Aotearoa to bring people together, foster connections, and create positive change through collaboration and shared resources.
-
Honouring Food
Celebrating food's role in uniting people and nourishing communities through shared culinary experiences.
-
Caring for the Planet
Promoting environmental stewardship through sustainable practices for the well-being of future generations.
How We Make A Impact
Supporting Individuals & Families
We provide hardship assistance, emergency aid, and practical solutions to ease everyday struggles.
Empowering Communities
Whether it’s funding local initiatives, hosting events, or partnering with grassroots organisations, we give back in ways that uplift and strengthen communities.
Caring for the Planet
We support sustainable food practices, waste reduction efforts, and environmental projects that contribute to a healthier future.
Food for Good
Providing meals, supporting food banks, and using food as a tool for connection and nourishment.
Our work is rooted in action—we don’t just talk about making a difference, we make it happen
How We Give
We know that applying for funding can be daunting, so we keep it simple. Twice a year—in September and May—we open applications and meet with people and groups who need funding. This allows us to build genuine connections and learn more about what you or your organisation.
Our Annual Events

Steptember - Make Your Steps Count! We take part in this annual challenge to raise money for a chosen cause. Individuals, groups, and charities can apply to be the beneficiaries of the funds raised. Applications Open May 2025

Sometimes, the best gifts come when least expected. We provide financial support to people who would never ask for help—but truly need it. Our only ask? That kindness continues to spread, in whatever way you can.

Swing For A Good Thing - Annual Golf Day! Each year, we host a fundraising golf tournament, with the money raised going directly to individuals, charities, or community groups in need. Applications open in May 2025 to those wanting to be considered as recipients
Support for Cater Plus Staff
The People of Cater Plus don’t just work for a company—they contribute to a movement.
A percentage of Cater Plus profits fund the foundation, and employees play an active role in giving back. From volunteering to leading local initiatives, our people are at the heart of what we do.
The Cater Plus Foundation began as a way to support the people behind Cater Plus—the staff and their families. While our impact also helps communities across Aotearoa, we remain committed to ensuring the well-being of Cater Plus employees through ongoing initiatives.
After six months of employment, Cater Plus team members have access
🔹 Emergency Hardship Loans – Interest-free financial support for unexpected situations.
🔹 Foundation Vehicles – Short-term access to a vehicle when personal transport is unavailable.
🔹 Mount Maunganui Beach Getaway – Access to stay at our beach apartment at a discounted and affordable rate.
🔹 Cater Saver – A savings scheme with an incentive to kick-start good saving habits.
🔹 Volunteer Days – Contribute to foundation-supported community events preparing or serving food.
🔹 Random Acts of Kindness – Because sometimes, a little help goes a long way.
While our foundation continues to expand its impact, these initiatives remains close to our hearts. Supporting people in everyday ways is what we’re all about.
This support is not a guaranteed entitlement, but rather an opportunity for us to give back to our people when we can, in line with the foundation's charitable purpose.
