Levelling the Playing Field: Supporting Women’s Rugby with Purpose

In 2016, the Cater Plus Foundation embarked on a mission to champion women's rugby by partnering with the Melville Women's Rugby Team. At a time when women's rugby often took a backseat—lacking equal resources, training facilities, and recognition—the Melville Rugby Club stood out with its unwavering commitment to elevate the women's game.

Over the past seven years, our sponsorship has been more than just a financial contribution; it's been a partnership rooted in shared values and a passion for the sport. As a Gold Sponsor, we've proudly supported the team along with various initiatives.

One initiative we are particularly proud of is the Wellbeing Fund. Managed by the team’s leadership, this fund is designed to remove financial barriers that could prevent players from fully participating in the sport they love. Whether it’s covering childcare costs so mums can attend training, helping with appointments such as physio after a tough game, or providing essential gear like boots, this fund ensures that players have the support they need both on and off the field.

We recognise the unique challenges female athletes face, particularly mothers balancing sport and family life. Our goal is simple—to lighten the financial load so these incredible women can follow their passion for the game.

Our collaboration with the Melville Women's Rugby Team has coincided with their remarkable achievements on the field. The team's dedication and talent have led them to secure multiple Women's Premiership titles, showcasing the caliber and talent of female rugby players.

Reflecting on this journey, we're filled with pride. Supporting a team that embodies resilience, passion, and community spirit aligns with why we do what we do. As we look ahead, we're excited to continue this partnership, championing women's rugby and ensuring that these athletes receive the recognition and support they deserve.
